Loomis NRX 893 and BCR 893 are they the same?

Is there a difference between the BCR 893 GLX and the NRX 893 other than the NRX being the better and more expensive rod? They both have the same ratings but the NRX is listed under jig and worm and the BCR is listed under the senko section. Thanks

To me they feel VERY close. The NRX feels a little more crisp in the tip but not necessarily "stiffer"..... but it may be the graphite quality, not the action. The NRX may get to the backbone quicker. I say "may" because they are very close I havent had the BCR in almost a year, but did fish it a bunch. For applications specific to these rods, they fish the same baits without a noticeable difference in effectiveness, IMO, other than the weight and blank quality difference.

Thanks. What do you think that rod is best suited for? I know Zona uses it for fishing 1/2-3/4 football heads but could you use it for tubes 3/8-1/2oz also?

yeah great jig, tube, arkie head, ect. anything that you drag on the bottom especially deeper water they excell at. i dont know about 3/4 oz it can handle it im sure but i would prolly step up a power on the rod after the 1/2 oz mark.

Re: Loomis NRX 893 and BCR 893 are they the same? (Revofisher)

I used the BCR GLX from the time it came out until the NRX was introduced. I fished it with 12lb FC with 3/8 to 1/2 oz jigs, worms, tubes, etc. most of the time. I think 3/4 oz is better suited to the CRR 873 NRX for the way I fish. Both the BCR GLX and the JWR NRX are outstanding rods, but there is clearly a difference in sensitivity in my hands with the NRX winning hands down. To answer your question, no, they aren't the same.

I've fished with a lot of rods from a lot of companies over the years, and for me, the NRX rods are clearly superior in terms of sensitivity to any other USDM rod.

We are a BBC Sponsor and have acquired some Loomis and Shimano "rep samples" (rods and reels) at The Tackle Trap and will be adding them to our website this coming week. It's a great opportunity to get a fully warrantied NRX with a reciept for the wildcard at a nicely discounted price from an authorized Loomis dealer. Check us out at http://www.tackletrap.com or feel free to send me an IM or email with any questions. Thanks!

3/4oz. is heavy for the rod for sure. i have however used it with 5/8-3/4 football heads at Table Rock. Its a little different animal because you need the heavy jig to get down to the 20-30ft. mark, but the gin clear, deep water makes you feel the need for light line for visibility (A-rig may change your mind) and feel. Not wanting to break the light fluoro on the hookset, I have used the 893 for this app, as opposed ot the 873 CRR.
