Im looking for advice on a good reel in the 200-300 $ range for flipping and punching. It will be going on a st. croix legend 7'9 heavy power, mod fast action rod.

You can't go wrong with a Curado 200 e or g series.
"The man of system is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamored with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it…He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard.” Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments
ive yet to try one but i may have to. I have mostly Revo's currently![]()

Lews tournement pro lighter and smoother then a curado I have both. The big knobs are nice for cranking fish out of cover.
I'd put my money on a pflueger patriarch. Solid reels and the added weight will help balance the rod.

I know there's better reels for casting, but for flippin it's hard to beat the E-7.Great price, good handles, high speed, and super tough.![]()
I upgraded a shimano castaic for a friend, now looking for one myself. The super free system on these reels are great better then e7. They are bigger like the cu200, the flipping system on this reel also good. The super free on this reel same as 200sf the real deal with longer pinion gear. You can pitch a mile if set up right.
shimano curado e7 High speed, and get some abec 7s and wahmo! you got a punching rig![]()

Gotta know what improvements are you seeing with ABEC 7 bearings with 1-2 oz. of hardware on the end of the line making short pitches?
