    2002 - 200 Hp DI

    Seahorse & Others,

I'm looking at a fishing machine with 200 Hp DI with ~500 Hrs each. Purported to be both running fine.

Any particular thought's on this year and model? With Ficht's legacy, did the Ficht Ram improve the issue?

Does 8 GPH/Engine at econ cruise rpm, sound about right?

    Thank you in advance.

Re: 2002 - 200 Hp DI (Arbutus Perch)

I have twin 200 HP 2000 model year Ficht engines with 700+ hours and they run fine 7 to 8 GPH each engine is about right.I would have them gone over by a tech before I buy get all the readouts from the lap top and take the serial # and call BRP to see if there are any updates and if they were done good luck.

Re: 2002 - 200 Hp DI (Double Trouble)

    Appreciated.

There was Ficht, Ficht Ram and now ETec.

It's been conveyed that the brain (computer) improved on the Ficht Ram. When BRP introduced Etec, was it a complete re-think of Ficht or a quality improvement of a great idea?

    Thanks.

Re: 2002 - 200 Hp DI (Arbutus Perch)

In 02 BRP built the engines and the old Ficht technology was much improved. Actually Ficht is the name of the injectors, since 02 BRP greatly improved the computers, closer engine parts tolerances, and all together better electronics. I have an 03 Direct Injection, and love the engine! I could be wrong, but the gurus will straighten me out..... It was Ficht, Ficht Ram in 02 then Direct Injection in 03 til 05 then ETEC.

Which is the more desirable one to have. The Ficht or Ficht Ram...... I have a 2000 Ficht Ram 225, with 294 hrs on it. Just curious if there's anything I should keep an eye on........

Ficht Ram! Carbon is the enemy of fuel injected motors. Use XD50 and de-carb annually or the preferred XD100 and not have to de-carb. Use a 1000 cca battery without wing nuts, use stainless locking nuts instead. Last but not least make sure the plugs are properly indexed.

    Re: 2002 - 200 Hp DI (Danrude)

Thanks Dan, I bought this boat/motor in Sept. Prior to this I've always had Mercs so I am not as familiar with Evinrudes. It seems to run real well, smooth Idle, power beyond belief.. Like I said it's my first Rude. Just trying to learn more about it...... Thanks again

I've had my 03 225 DI for 4 years, I've run nothing but xd100 in her and she still is a sweet running machine.

Is the DI and E-Tec pretty much the same when it comes to Fuel Burn?

    Re: (Arbutus Perch)

The ETEC may be a little more efficient, but the DI is a pretty efficient engine. I'll let the gurus give confirmation.

    Here try this link

The E-tec will have better fuel economy than the DFI. Upgraded injectors better fuel delivery, etc.
