    oil leakfrom motor

    I HAVE A 1987 JOHNSON GT 150 VRO,MODEL GTLCUR SR.# R7566326,I HAVE BLACK OIL RUNNING DOWN MY OUTDRIVE FROM THE MOTOR,I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT COULD BE THE CHECK VALVES,OR A CARBURETOR COULD BE FLOODING OUT.IDEAS ON HOW AND WHAT TO CHECK FIRST.

    Leaking down the out side of the mid section or coming out the prop?

    Bad gasket finally saturated after all these years. Have to pull the head to replace it.

    Take the lower covers off your belly pan and inspect the seam where the head bolts onto the mid-section. You can try tightening the bolts that attach the head to the mid.
