I use the Iwata Revolution for my basecoats and pearls and a Iwata HP-C+ for the finer detail.

You can get the revolution off an E-bay store for about $70-$80.

I use a Master G22, and it works great. For $40, you'd be hard pressed to beat it. I haven't tried any of the more expensive airbrushes, but the G22 works so well I've had no reason to upgrade.
