    SEI Lower units

I've blown my lower unit on my 99 Johnson 225 H.O. an dwas wondering about the SEI units, there alot cheaper, but will they hold up? DO you get what you pay for?

Three year warranty so far I've installed two of them with no issues as long as you follow the break in procedure. You just can't get them in a lightning gear case they only make the offshore (stock) style.

The units are doing very well so far. The warranty issues have been handled very professionally and fairly so far with non serious problems.

Eddie (gearcaseman) hooked me up with one last spring and it has done fine for me. Same motor as yours 00 Johnson 225 HO. I have had to do some minor setup adjustments to compensate for the different lu design but nothing major. Went down 1 pitch in the prop. It has been great so far no complaints. It may just be the fact that Eddie put in a new impeller but I seem to get a lot more water pressure with this lu than with the lightning. i may have lost 1 or 2 mph top end.

Glad everything worked out. Your pressure was increased probably for two reasons, changing to the new impeller and the different style water intake design on the S.E.I. unit. You will notice one large square hole on the new unit versus 3 or 4 small holes on the H.O. case. This seems to help quite a bit. Thanks for the input. E.P.
