Epoxy removal question for the pros....

I have an old rod that has sentimental value and don't want to get rid of it. The epoxy around the guides and the hook keeper is shot. What can I remove the old epoxy with and recover it. I may even replace the guides to micro if I can get all the epoxy off. Any one have any suggestions? I've tried acetone and carb cleaner with no results.

quick/brief amount of heat and run a razor blade down the guide foot. it will come right off if its old and brittle. a plastic spoon makes a good scraper that won't damage the blank.

you will need to rewrap all the guides however.
