D2T - How Long on Rottesieri?

I have been using Devon 2Ton as the clear coat on my paints. Seems I paint at night, then let the rottesieri go all night long. Just wondering how long it takes the epoxy to set up to the point where I don't need to spin it any longer. Is 2 hours enough? Or am I just better off letting it go all night.

I'm new to painting myself and I had my rotisserie in my garage where there wasn't any heat and I let rotisserie run all night. I have since moved everything indoors to my den, and set it up next to my gas log heater. I can put the 2ton on and start the rotisserie now and stop it in about 3 hours and they will be set up good.

I think 2 hrs is plenty, but I let mine go all night as I normally clear them late. Area temps do make a difference and 70* plus is better. This is not an outdoor application when you spend the time and effort in all the painting unless you have good heat.

D2T will be fully set in 45-60 minutes depending on ambient temps. That's usually when i take them off and hang them the epoxy won't sag by then. Don't let them touch or they WILL stick together.

I haven't had any reason to use a turner with Devcon. I just put on a light coat and hang em. They are normally cured enough to touch in 2 hours.

Then your not getting a good even coat/coverage... Missing out on some durability.

I beg to differ. If you only do a couple at a time ( I only coat 3 - 4 baits per mix ) and apply correctly they come out very smooth with complete coverage. I also add heat which sets the DT2 quickly once cool. Trust me, you could cast these things through a wall! Well maybe not.

The epoxy sags no matter what. I have tried it both ways, I see a difference. Why not turn them for 2 hrs? Not like it hurts anything.

I used to turn em just don't need to since I played around with different applications. I really very rarely get any sag and think its due to the light coat and time I take applying. When I 1st started I would have some sag, but haven't had issues as of late.

I always had to turn mine but I don't use DT2 anymore.

I always turn mine a minimum of 45 minutes once turning the epoxy evens out making the lure more balanced i would be afraid to not turn mine ive tried both ways also turning with devcon in my opinion is a must but its my opinion

More power to you for not turning... but I would agree that you're not getting a good coat, and you're missing out on durability IMO. If you're getting by with it... then I guess I can't argue... but I would assume that if you haven't had issues yet... you will soon.

30 mins is plenty of time. You can't brush the stuff more than 4-5 minutes without it starting to set up. In fact, doesnt it say on the package 30 minute epoxy? But dont touch them for 12 hours or so.
