    Trailer Keeper

Putting a custom trailer keeper in my weedless jig mold by using memory wire from Staples. Just a simple piece of wire with the one end bent at a sharp angle. Having trouble once i put the hook and keeper in the mold, the keeper keeps slipping down and sometimes even falling out of mold before I even get a chance to put lead in it.

Any ideas/hints/tips you could share on how to keep the trailer keeper from slipping out of mold? They are a good idea but have been a pain so far...get 1 good one out of maybe 5. Below is a pic similar to how the trailer keeper looks.

Make a small bend one the end that's imbedded in the head to go around the hook, add a very small drop of super glue to hold in place till you pour.

    Find a small cylindrical magnet
Drill small hole(same size or just slightly bigger than the magnet) in mold to hold magnet
Press magnet into hole leaving flush with the bottom of the keeper groove
Take a punch and hit it around the hole with the magnet an few times. This will distort the aluminun enough to hold the magnet in place

I have borrowed a spinnerbait mold that had this done to hold the hook and wire inplace. I am trying to find some small magnets to to this to a couple of my molds.

Drill a small hole deep in the mold where the hook shank is... Fill it with permatex copper gasket material full. This will hold the hook and or keeper in place. I drill and use this stuff alot in my molds and it will take 750* all day. I would drill the hole in both halfs of the mold and fill them over full and cut off with a razor blade flush and you will thank me. The magnet dont work well on SS
