What are ya'll coating your cranks with since you can't get dicknites anymore? I find that Devcon 2T doesn't hold up on rattle traps etc.

I did not know dicknites wasn't available anymore. What happened?
I don't know of a topcoat that will last indefinately on a lipless crank. Simply because most of the time the nose of the lure is digging into the lake bottom, it's gonna damage the top coat eventually, no matter what it is. IMHO...

I put two coats of clear on a trap and tried it and the nose of the baits still take a beating.
I use automotive clear. I don't spray it though, I dip the baits 3 times 10 minutes between each dip.
But I agree with the comment above, lipless cranks take a beating and it will be tough on any top coat.

One of the main ingredients is no longer available, Dick is suppose to be coming up with a better product, one with better shelf life. till then hold on to what you have.

I read about the dicknites as well and how a new product is in development that should be great......without the handling and paint compatibility issues with the current product
I agree with what has been said. The lipless baits take a beating.
Thanks fellas, just wondering what to do about lipless baits, I'm down to Devcon 2T and it's not wearing to well on the top.![]()

does anybody know how etex compares to devcon on lipless baits? better/worse/same?
I spray automotive clear on my baits and am very satisfied with the durability and the wet looking shine it gives the lure.![]()
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
on the auto clear. Do you spray it from your airbrush or is it in a can? I tried an auto clear from a can and it was horrible.
I would like to try auto clear also. What kind is everyone using??
