    Evinrude 2010 250 HO

I have a question...I had a 2009 250HO go down. It was replaced with a complete 2010 powerhead. I was told by my marina that if I didn't start using XD100 that my warranty would no longer exist. I was currently running the XD50 when my old motor went down. So my question is...has anybody else been told to use the XD100 or no warranty?

If that is "official" and I doubt it is, BRP would have to give you the oil free of charge, that is the law. I have had dealers tell me not to use XD100 and that XD 50 was just fine. It's up to you. My engine uses one gal. of XD100 per 47 gal of gas average, I'll use the best and live with it..........G

My book for my 2008 250HO tells me I can use any TW-3 rated oil. Ditto on the best XD-100. Why make a potential problem.

They cannot void your warranty. Because it looks like you live in WI I would use xd100 because it flows easier in colder temps. XD 50 is also ok down to 32 deg and also a good choice in warmer weather.

Then I am wondering why my dealership put it in writing on the invoice that my warranty would be void if I did not use XD100 with the new 2010 powerhead.

Why Is my Evinrude dealership doing this ?

Well, for starters you can read your owners manual then if you don't believe what is written, call the customer service number and talk to a factory tech.

Of course, using XD-100 is the best thing for your motor, but it is not mandatory.

Probably cuz teh have excess of XD-100. I would call BRP and ask them. Should be fine with XD 50 but BRP would have final say. Also as mentioned before they can not MAKE you run a certain brand oil unless they are giving it toy ou for free.

I had exactly the same issue, my 2009 250 HO went down and was replaced with a 2010 completely dressed powerhead. I used XD 50 then and use XD 50 now. I have not been instructed by Evinrude or anyone at our dealership to change. As a matter of fact, I ask if I should run 100 and was told no need to. I think someone trying to pull one on you.

Domo oil has xd 50 for $24.33 shipped to WI and xd-100 32.83 shipped to WI. Have to buy six gallons at a time. They also sell drums of it if you can organize 11 guys in your area, each walks away with 5 gallons for even less.
