Looking for a custom rod builder

I'm looking to have a one-of-a-kind custom baitcasting rod built for finesse fishing that includes shakey-heads, wacky-worms, and others that are rated down to 1/16oz. I am wanting a blank of 6'8" +.

    However, there is a twist........

I have a broken Megabass rod that I would like to use for components on the new rod (reel seat, aluminum winding checks, titanium tip guide, etc). I would also like some unique split cork grips with a tiger pattern or something untraditional. I would also like to negotiate a time frame and price. I broke the Megabass rod (not covered under warranty) about a year ago and it has been sitting in the corner of my garage in its custom rod sock ever since. A friend broke it and couldn't afford to replace it (not that I would make him do it). I never could bring myself to toss it, so I held on to both pieces. I have pics if you would like them.

If you think you can perform this task, give me a shout on here or email me at linecuttinwater@bellsouth.net. I check my personal email more often.

Re: Looking for a custom rod builder (QuitLookin'AtMySteezes)

I'll just shoot straight from the hip -

Your twist is going to make building that rod #1 - expensive and #2 - complicated if even possible.

Here's why (from my perspective as a builder):
reusing parts: I have to take a rod apart then put another together. To do it right, all the epoxy would need to be cleaned off the guides, etc. Chances are you won't have all the correct sized guides or tip for the new build. NOw I have to figure out what kind of guides these are and buying something matching, if even available. LOT of labor.
Reusing parts #2: chances are the winding checks and reel seat aren;t the right sizes for the new blank. So that won't work.
    Timeframe: Easy.
Price: Gonna be high. Easier to reduce cost most likely by going to all new parts
Grip: No problem depending on what this "tiger pattern" is. If it's just inlayed rings, that is easy, but again, more work and $.

I'd suggest doing some research and finding a builder that builds in the style you want and contacting them directly. You will most likely have more luck. Ask for pictures, etc.

A reputible builder will be able to give you an upfront timeframe that they will be able to meet.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

It can POSSIBLY be done. I understand that it may not be able to be done, and I'm really not worried about the guides, just maybe the tip guide. If not, no big deal.
