A couple of tubes I made

The first is a version of California 420. It is black neon with Freshkill. I took the shot before dipping it in clear. I normally don't leave the ridges on the tube and prefer at least a double dip.

The second...same thing about the dip, its in Okeechobee craw

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

Re: A couple of tubes I made (Munkin)

Allen I just dipped some Roadkill Black tail and roadkill chart tails baits, I'll get some shots up soon. I've been having fun playing with these. I am used to running 3000ct at a time through the dipping bins but I do these in much smaller qty.

I think I am going to try some hand injection soft plastic baitmaking this winter. With the amount of Chigger Craws I go through it should be worth the money.

You said those tubes are dipped? They look exactly like mine from a Bear's injection mold, how are you getting them that way by dipping? I'd really like a fatter flippin type tube like these but Bear doesn't have a mold like I want. What I'm after is the profile of a Fat Ika, 5/8 inch solid head and the rest of the body hollow. I've gone thru several revisions of POP molds without acceptable result. If it's possible to dip them I'd sure like to learn how you did it.

Re: A couple of tubes I made (weighinalimit)

They are Bear's, I normally dip the injection molded tube after it comes out of the mold. I took the pic's before I dipped them. I think I kept a few undipped as well. Stick a steel rod in the back end, put your body color in a pyrex making sure you will be able to dip the whole depth of the tube into it.........dip, twirl slowly to keep the bait neat and rounded..keep the bait almost horizontal while doing this.....viola.....you can dip about 2 or 3 times before the body starts to get too big for the tails depending on the heat of the plastic. To get a 5/8" solid head you can change out the top part of the mandrel for a smaller one giving you more solid area in the head. These tubes in this post are not dipped.....I have another post (firetails), those are dipped. check that out.
