Any thoughts on airbrushing soft swimbaits with Spike-It Dye?

I have some soft plastic swimbaits I was looking to add some color too. I was thinking about just shooting some Spike-It dye through the ole airbrush to get the job done.

I would guess as long as I cleaned out the brush well afterwards, there shouldn't be any problems?

    Anyone ever try this?

I was thinking the same thing Cliff. I figured as thin as it was, it ought to shoot well, I'll have to fiddle with the pressure a bit to get a feel of it. And as long as I promptly cleaned out the gun afterward, I should be fine.

I'll probably use my cheaper gun though, just to be safe.

I think what you will find is that overtime they will bleed and the die won't be only where you put it. I have done something similar before and when they sit in the pack for a long time, the dye just keeps absorbing and spreading.

Keep us posted. The air brush might be able to spray a thin enough coat to alter the color some without absorbing too much. Sure would make some interesting laminates real quick!

Yah, after doing some more digging; it looks like the ole Spike-It dye may not be the best approach. I may just try the soft plastic paint that lurecraft sells. It's not real pricey for just the few colors I need.
