Does anyone here know how to print your own decals to put on rod blanks, that can be epoxied over? Like the ones uses for the builders name, rod model, etc?

This is the paper I've been using http://swamplandtackle.com/DecalMedia.asp. I use Gimp software to design my decals and print them on my HP7160 inkjet. After the ink dries spray it with acrylic clear. Make a wrap at each end of the decal and apply finish.
Here is a decent article on decals also although my method varies a good bit from this http://www.rodbuildingtutorial...s.pdf. I use white paper so there is no need for the base wrap of thread. I've heard that RodMaker Magazine had a good article on "electric decals" but I've never read it.![]()

use the inkjet vinyl with UV protectant spray or film. Papilio is another good source and they have the UV sticker film also. certain brands of ink will fade in the sun - better to not find its the kind you have after you've applied epoxy. I also use a coat of color preserver over the vinyl just before epoxy because sometimes the finish doesn't like the vinyl.
If you want color waterslide decals contact Decal Connection. Otherwise you can print basically just black with an ink-jet also.
decalconnection is pretty much nothing but peel and stick deals now. They have not been able to get the waterslide paper and when they have, it's had problems with printing, etc.
I was an avid user of waterslides, but I have to say I really have become a fan of the peel and stick. I don't have to wait for it to dry to cover in rod finish. Put it on and go! I've also had no problems with the decals repelling finish.
I believe they may make some decals for various OEMs as well.
Does anyone know of a outside source or professional service that prints labels specifically for rods?
