    115 Etec break-in question

I know there is no break-in process but I'm wondering if after the break-in is over (double oil for x amount of time over 2000rpms) will these motors pick-up rpms up top? I had my new boat out with a new 115 etec and saw a max rpm of 5000-5200rpm. I was curious if I will gain some rpm once the break-in is over.

What does your Owners manual say for the max RPMS? What kind of Hull are you running your 115 on? If you are not propped correctly you may not see RPM's that bump the rev limiter on the motor. There is no need for that either, Make sure your motor is running in the RPM band for your motor. A 115 on a Pontoon boat is a bunch different RPM than a 115 on say a 18' Skiff or other type hull.

The question was will the motor gain rpm after the break-in is over.

No, it will not. First make sure you have the motor at the right height. If so, you need a lower pitch prop. Try a Raker II 18":
