Now I'm using clear nail polish to apply the foil, should be water proof.

you need a clearcoat over your foil be it epoxy or a true clear, most bait builders use 3m 77 adhesive![]()
I'm using epoxy as a clear, but it must have gotten in somehow, the epoxy only bonds to the skin, it's what's under the skin that let go. I'll try the spray adhesive next. I'm still in the learning stage so forgive me.

another related question:
what can I use to get the old bagley, true looking foil on my cranks?
thanks
If you show me what your looking for I'll point you in the right direction![]()
DB2 copy I made.
that looks great. what do you use for the foil, and how do you apply it?
I use to have a couple of bronze/red craw looking foil bagleys, that I'd like to try to replicate.
thanks
Thats actually reynolds wrap applied with 3m 77.... I wouldnt recommend the reynolds tho you need to find the cheapest alum foil you can find(cheap=thin) its much easier to work with. Tackleunderground has some good tutorials on foiling and must will use duct tape, I'm just not big on the tape as I havent found any that doesnt add alot of weight.
I've actually tried the foil, but I did use reynolds. What I haven't figured out is how you made the pattern of scales or lines, like the bagley. I'll also check out the site you suggested. thanks for your help!
something knurled like a ratchet handle, roll it over the foil and put just enough pressure on it to indent the foil![]()
