Since ya'll are so nice, a few more, including Craw V2

First, thank you all for the feedback on the first version of the craw, that was great!
This is to show you what I have been working on since. I promise I am not going to post everything I paint!

    First, Ver.2 of the Craw:

A new bluegill pattern, now with fins!

And finally, a mess of crappie that I repainted for a client:

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

What are you using for your scale stencil?

Dressmaker's tulle from the fabric store, about a buck a yard. Because I paint with urethanes, it's a one-time-use sort of thing but the stuff is really dirt cheap. It's fun to go to the fabric store with your FLW hat on and paint stained fingers and ask them for the tulle. When the saleslady has lead you to the tule, there will be a mildly overweight woman in loud print blouse a couple of bolts of fabric away. No kidding, any fabric store, any town, she's there. Don't be alarmed. She will give you strange glances when she thinks you're not looking as you expertly appraise the tulle offerings for scale size and strechy-ness (and some is stretchier that others. Stretchy is better). After you have selected your tulle, ask the woman in the atrocious blouse if she thinks it comes in fuschia. She will be very helpful, as she has already concluded you are gay. Proceed to cutting desk and have the woman there cut off the desired length. She also thinks you're gay.
And people think painting baits is easy!
    Hope this helps.

Those look great. How are you getting the crackle effect. Is that the wadded up walmart sack on wet paint effect. I have tried it and can't seem to get the results I want. Also on the first photos. The fine lines on the craws where the black is blended is killer. Would you mind shareing how you made the fine black lines.
Great work. Keep on posting. We all like looking at photos and trying to make the ones we paint look better.

I am happy to share the techniques used on the craw so far, since I won't be using them in the final version As for the craw above, let's just say there was a sponge involved. A makeup sponge. Bought in the makeup section at KMart. The lady in the loud print blouse was there too. Now she is pretty certain I'm up to something. As for the lines, well my friend, that is just plain old Sharpy Exta-Fine point marker.
