    Removing old guides

Is there a chemical that you use to remove the guides or just scrape them? Just curious. Thanks

    Re: Removing old guides (SCPO_JR)

    - Gently heat the existing epoxy
    - slice through along the top of the guide foot (so you don't cut the blank)
    - old threads and epoxy should peel right off (might need to use tweezers to get it going - lift up the edge where you made the cut)

There will be residue left. Heat slightly, and you can scrape it off (gently) with a credit card, etc. Be careful as a metal scraper can gouge the blank. Too much heat will also damage the blank. So just use enough to soften the epoxy. A little torch or lighter works fine for this.

If you are installing a new guide and the wraps will be in the same place as the old, you don't have to get the blank real clean. You're going to cover it right back up.
