How much can a guy build a decent spinning rod for? If I enjoy/am good enough at building my first one I'm considering building rods for my groomsmen in my wedding but not sure if I can swing $100+ rods in the wedding budget per groomsmen. Thanks

It can be done, you are not going to get a quality rod built for that but you can probably build a mid-grade rod for under $100. I believe Janns or Mudhole sell kits for under $100 with everything that you would need with the exception of all of the consumables like epoxy, thread, etc.
One other suggestion is contact the guys at Swampland (http://www.swamplandtackle.com/). They sometimes have close out blanks and grips etc... But the above stated companies will also have what you need as Jeff suggested. An idea....have custom labels made to personalize the rods, such as the person's name and the date of the wedding with a special message. Not that expensive and would be a nice touch (http://www.decalconnection.com/)
Good luck with the rods and the wedding
If I end up doing this thats exactly what I was planning on having done as far as the custom labels with names and such.
