I like it on a scrounger head and as for colors I realy like the "magic shad" color. It alos is a good bait for a trailer on a chatterbait

Try a 3/0 or a 4/0 weighted swimbait hook from Gamakatsu. You want to give your buddy a run for his money...switch it up and use a Big Hammer swim tail on a weighted hook in either baby bass, wookie whacker, or sexy smelt colors.

I love these and use them different ways. I have used a simple jighead but I like weighted swimbait hooks to make it weedless. I have used a simple slow roll retrieve as well as fished it like a soft jerkbait. It is a deadly trailer on a bladed jig Another GREAT way to use it is on a C-Rig, great on Alabama rig also. I like it better than paddle tail swimbaits because of the lifelike action and you can fish is slower than the paddletail style baits.

I bought dozens of them at overstock... try a 4/0 owner weighted twistlock hook. the beast is good too (weighted)
At overstock they sell a lake fork jighead that doesn't look like much. but works real well.
my best color is junebug. white for smallmouth.

Re: Lake fork live magic shad 4.5 inch (capticeman)

These are deadly little baits. I use mine mostly as a trailer on a bladed jig or swim jig. We have so many colors out now you can find one to match anything. I have also used them to bedfish. You can rig them with a bend in them and get them to "stand up" on a bed. I use the sun perch and tilapia a lot. Lake Fork Tackle has their own swimbait hooks made just for this bait. You can get them at http://www.lftlures.com
