225 Evinrude with Engine light on----Any suggestions

I have a 2003 Evinrude 225 HP Ficht outboard. When I start the engine, the check engine light stays on and the alarm goes off. After a bit the alarm stops sounding but the check engine light stays on. I have a good flow of water pumping, good fuel level and good oil level. What could be the cause of the engine light staying on and the alarm sounding? HELP!!!

mine did this once and I changed the fuel filter and it went away, from what I"ve read an air bubble in the fuel or water or dirt in the fuel [filter]will make it do this.

You are going to have to hook up the diagnostic program and see which code is being set! You could remove the fuel filter and see if there is water in it. Is there any other light beside the check engine that is lighting up.
