    Skipping??

I want to learn how to skip bates with a baitcaster but I really dont know where to start and cant figure it out. Ive tried many times last year messing with the tension knob and drags but couldnt figure it out. Im pretty good with my baitcasters so if someone could help me out I would love it!!

if you draw some squares on the sidewalk first that'll help your skipping to get better

Getting good at skipping my spinning reel first helped me a ton to start skipping the baitcaster.

I'll help you out since you're a fellow Michigander hahaha! If you study the youtube videos of people skipping with casting gear you'll notice they all cast with a similar motion.

Of course it's easier to skip heavy compact lures like jigs and internally weighted tubes at first but once you get better you can do weightless senko type baits etc.

haha yeaa the sidewalk and chalk would help! ...but I am actually really good at skipping with a spinning reel, putting it really anywhere I want most times. But a baitcaster is completely different. Just wondering if theres any tips that make it a little easier with the spool tension and drags but maybe there isnt!

leave all but 1 rod at home, practice, it takes lots of it.
you need the style that work for you.
the setting on you reel, drop test, the rest is in your thumb
it is all in the angle
the sidewalk deal was not a joke, if you are bouncing off the concrete, wrong angle, you want a gentle slide, smooth may be the word.
try this, spend 1 hr a day for a week in the driveway, then take it to the lake, don't change just because you are on the water.
in the driveway put 2 blocks down with a board across the, this is your dock edge.
do the 1 hr a week for weeks, you will get it, fishing is hard work if you want to be good !!!!!!!!!!!! hope this helps.

Make a cast as far as you think you will need and pull another 10ft of line off and put a piece of tape on the spool. This will keep you from getting deep backlashes.
