Zoom Trick Worms, Strike King 3X and new style finesse worms, and Davis worms are the best I've found.

If you get a chance, check out some of the Gene Larew floating baits. I like to use the 8" ribbontail and 11" salty snake mojo rigged across flats out to deeper water.
3/0 to 4/0 straight shank hooks...just my pref.

I have used many types of floating worms and have found Haw River to have the best action and durability. Zoom would rank towards the bottom but are easy to find if you get in a bind.

Also like "Danny Joe's Original Floater" (DJ Humphrey--1988 BASS Nat'l Fed. Champ) if you can find them---my local Dick's Sporting carried them a few years ago, haven't seen 'em lately...try 'Carolina Fish & Fur, Kingston NC, 800-527-0918' or http://www.dannyjoeslures.com

Alot of trick worms do not float. If you notice most of the ones that are two colors with a solid color on the bottom and a clear color on the top like red bug shad or red ruby, most of those float but most of the solid colors don't like candybug, black red glitter or junebug.

It should say "FLOATING" on the package somewhere.
If you get baits made by a hand pourer, ask them to put in floating additive with NO SALT. I have many customers who order ALL their baits with no salt so the bait is softer. It does make a huge difference to how long a bass will hold on.

Check out these floating worms. They have been around for a long time and still catch fish.
