just picked up a four pak today 3 3/4" ones. Looks like maybe a 6.0 hook would be best? Never fished frogs before so looks like about sometime in May I'll start tossin them.![]()

i haven't fished the money frogs, but if you have grass and the water temps are in the mid to upper 60's or higher, i'd start throwing them.....
it is hard to beat the ribbits to me. i use the 5/0 double hook that they have come out with or similar screwlock single hook.
Thanks. The frogs are one of three things I am going to get familiar with this season. The other two are dropshotting and wacky/senkos.
A guy I met last year gave me a pack of Zoom Horny Toads. I killed them in clear water, 4-25 feet deep. Could be nobody else fished that bait in those conditions, but it was positive for me. That bait is a little more subtle in the leg action than the money frog, but very similar in shape. I use a 5 or 6/0 hook, a 7/0 is too big. It's a fun setup. I lose a lot of fish by jerking the bait away. I might try it on a crankbait rod. That's the only part of the bait that sucks is the hookup ratio for me.
6/0 should work fine.I have never used the Money Frog, but a friend told me it was the only lure that he could get a "Spook-like walk" on matted grass. Makes sense.
I have thrown every frog from the money frog, ribbits, horny toad, gambler cane, bigfoot, spro and many others....I love all frogs and the key for me was using a 7 to 7'6 rod MH with 65lb braid....If you can give them a second once they hit it and then cross there eyes with that braid you will be fine...Love frog fishing and a great bait on many occasions..![]()
