Pointer 100's

Hey guys,

Last year I got addicted to Lucky Craft hardbaits. I've got the Sammy 100 and Pointer 78's dialed in to the point where I am confident throwing them anywhere.

I started throwing the Pointer 100 on a 7' MH BPS Crankin' Stick with 12lb copolymer. That feels ok, but I'm curious as to how other guys work 'em. I'm leaning towards 15lb fluoro this year. Thoughts?

well down south (to you) I use a 6'6" M Mojo bass rod. with 10-12lb line. I think 15lb would be a little excessive

I use a shimano crucial crankbait rod 7' med hvy moderate fast action. I am a taller guy at 6'6 so the longer rod feels better, and I can still work it down towards the water without any problems. As far as line goes match it to the application. I have used 15lb mono and fluro before fishing above weed beds. most of the time 12lb is the way to go on the pointer 100s. If you are trying to get the bait super deep like the dd pointer 100 you might want to try 10lb fluro, but 12lb is what I use most of the time. I only use the 15lb line when I want the bait over the weeds that are just 3 feet beneath the surface of the water

Thanks for the insight fellas. Most of the time I'll be fishing these baits over vegetation. There are very few circumstances I can think of where I'd fishing open water over a hard bottom. I'll play with both this season.
