how light of a bait are you trying to throw, 1/8 oz with a baitcaster is about it for me.

You may want to drop back to 10 or even 8 pound line. With a Medium power rod, you should be fine with the lighter line. You may want to check the lubrication/function of your reel as well. If it wont throw the bait even on freespool, you may need to check the reel out.

I dont think the megaforce was built for light baits..
You want to go light try the Sol or something that is "tuned" to throw a lighter weight..

Try the 50MG CORE. It will let you cast the smaler baits.

lighter line and med - med light action rods will answer the mail for you with the smaller plugs. Try the spinning stuff if you are really concerned about casting distance

    Re: (Moneyshot)

The revo s is only 26 more dollars than the orra and i can throw light baits with it very well, but I am using 10 lb test line, so that will make a difference. If you can hack the extra $ the stx will throw light baits a mile or two.

    Re: Casting Distance (Moneyshot)

If you backlash at the beginning of the cast, adjust the spool tension knob on the right-hand side of the reel. If you are backlashing towards the end of the cast, adjust the spool brake on the left hand side of the reel. Both of these settings will effect casting distance on any baitcaster so start with them both on max and work backwards.

My citica e will outcast my stx with light baits and you can find it for a $100 or less if you shop around. But niether one of them is a sol!The daiwa viento does really well with lighter baits also. You can find citica e's and vientos on the for sale board here in your price range.
