Done Deal - I'm Goin to Boundary Waters Minnesota

Goin back to Boundary Waters next August. Going to be a real good trip going with long long boyhood friends who have moved out of state, had kids and all that. We went ten years ago, fishing was OK but we really didn't know what the heck were doing.

Its by canoe and long portages, and I am ten years older and fatter, so I only want to take essential gear and proven lures. Also what are best depths, lure colors etc, etc,,,. Oh yeah its mostly Pike fishing.

What minimal tackle would someone WITH LOCAL EXPERIENCE up there recommend?

What lakes are best? We have set dates but are researching where to go.

Any info greatly appreciated.

Sorry, can't help on the questions, but I envy you the trip. Beautiful country up there. I went there a couple of times when I was a kid, before it got as popular as it is these days. Make sure you bring a case of good 'skeeter repellent!!

That place is a kick! Pike..YUK! Big smallies and walleyes..tubes, grubs and topwaters...but it's been a long time since I was there too...+2 on the skeeter repellent..you'll have a ball!

I use to go every year and you only need two baits for smallmouth. The bull frog spook and the 4 inch black/char tip slider worm. Good luck
