    Which Knot???????

What knot do you guys tie when fishing a top-water bait that doesn't have a split ring like a pop-r? I've been using a loop knot but was thinking of just adding a split ring to the bait & tie directly to that. What's do you guys do?

    Re: Which Knot??????? (mdunc)

    Hello Mike,

If a top-water lure comes out of a package or box without a split ring I tie a palomar knot. I use a loop knot for the small profile minnow type floaters like a Rapala F5 etc....just my preference.

Put a split-ring on there and tie a polomar I feel the split-ring helps a pop-r type bait walk a little better.

We use the POLOMER knot for everything. Spinnerbaits, texas rig hooks, top waters, even to tie our carolina rig swivels but you do have to tie swivel to your leader side first than to your reel line. you never have to worry about the polomer slippin or breaking at the knot unless your line is scored.

I've always used the improved clinch. Used it on everything, but it certainly sucks with braided line (slips through)
