at what water temp do you increase your fall rate? say 3/8 up to a 1/2oz?

Usually around the end of post spawn 70-75. but....
There are a lot of reasons to go up or down in weight. Go up for...warm water, reaction strike, cover more water when looking for fish, high wind, deep water...ex. Go down for...cold water, high fishing pressure, clear water...ex.
most of the time I use a 3/8 oz rattleback or Eakins flip jig in shallow water. Only time I use a 1/2 oz and up is on a football head in deeper water. I use a smaller trailer to make a quick fall and a large trailer to slow it down. Seems like early summer is when they want a blur instead of a parachute.

I use a 1/2 oz. jig 24/7... caught bass on it from 38 degrees in dec. to 90 water in aug... adjust the trailer size to change fall rate... I have lighter and heavier ones, but they just sit there...
I don't even consider water temp when I'm fishing jigs. Like any other bass fisherman, I start of fairly light (1/4-3/8) in winter, but if they're just not taking it, I'll jump to a 1/2 or even a 5/8 to get that reaction strike. Just let the fish tell you.
