Yes, and no. If you can find any of the old Poes baits in the fish shaped package, or the old blue/white paper box, they are probably good baits, not always, but 99% of the time. Browning bought out Poe's moved production to Mexico, baits went to crap. Paint cracks in package, bills not straight, bills stick into or out of baits too far, just all kinds of problems. Alot of these baits, which alot of were pumped out in 93 and 94 after Fritts won the Classic, are still in stores. Look at the date on the back of the package, and it will let you know what year the bait was built. If you buy newer Poes baits, you have to really look at them good in the package to just get an OK bait. And the new competition cedar baits they have out, aren't worth the money. I don't think the quality is any better on those than the other baits. From what I understand, they still don't have their paint problems corrected after 15 years, as stores still send them back to the factory by the box for cracked paint, in the package.
Let me also say that if you buy used Poes off of someone, and they paint hasn't cracked, it probably won't. I have bought used Poes many times in colors I didn't want and had them repainted just because the lures were made well.

those old poes 300s were really good, not as loud as some of the plastic baits and cast better than the balsa deep runners.![]()
