    Push pole for flippin' cover

Am considering buying a push pole to work thick cover for flippin'. A buddy of mine in Florida said he switched over to maneuvering with a pole instead of his TM for getting deeper into weed beds, and closer inside weed edges. Anybody else using these push poles for fishing cover? I have looked at both Bass Pro and Cabela's but they have limited selection. Found some websites with good ones but don't really want to spend $200 or more. Does anyone have a good source for a quality made pole 12'-15' for a good price? Thanks.

It was reported that Preston Clark, the man who brought them back in vogue, used an old pole vault he found at a high school track

Academy sports has some decent push poles for under $100 in this area. I just bought a new one there a while back for around $60. They are a necessity for some of the areas I fish in the spring.

Ditto!! That's where I got mine. For the same reason! And the fall.

If you just want to TRY it and see how you like it, you can make a cheesy one in about 10 minutes for 15 dollars. My friend made one out of 2" sch 40 PVC. On one end, put on a cap. On the other end, put on a T, with the branch of the T going on the pole. Now put a small stub pipe in each end of the other two connections of the tee and cap them.

My buddy made his some years ago and uses it all the time in the flats of the mosquito lagoon.

Re: Push pole for flippin' cover (Subman)

I definately would like a manufactured one so I can telescope it down to possibly fit in my longer rod locker. Since I want one that will extend out to 12' to 15', I think Sch. 40 PVC would flex too much. J.M.O. I'll check out the links suggested. Thanks.
