    Underwater Cameras

I am in the market for an underwater camera and seeing as I have never owned one before I had a few questions. I will be using it in pretty clear water 90% of the time and down to depths of 40 feet or so. I am leaning toward an Aqua Vu but with so many models and salesmen who don't really know much about the product I am a little confused.

Is the Spectral Response illumination better than the Infra Red?

Are the older style of Aqua Vu's with the smaller screens worth the extra money over the newer Scout XL style with the soft case and big monitors?

Any advice would be appreciated, a lot of guys up here use them, they just don't say which models are worth it and which ones don't cut it at all.

    Thanks!!

its great in clear to stained water.
Even in some mud its ok once you break through the mud layer. Its freaky to see a fish. They dont care either just swim up to it.
One thing I have used it for is after an hour i get all mad, and drop it and find nothing there :D

....I have an Aqua-View scout xl....Down here in fla it has limited use...The water has to be fairly clear to see more then a few feet...I use it mostly to see the type of bottom and structure .. I like to FLY a few feet off the bottom as I troll slowly along....I can tell you the picture you see is not like you see on the T.V. shows...and what you think is fish on your depth finder is something different.....I have watched inactave fish refuse a lure in front of them, turning there face away, the next day they would tear it up on that same spot....When they dont want it they will not bite, it dont mean they are not there...<>rob<>>>.

A friend and I went in together and bought an Aqua Vu. All it does is tick me off. Fish a place for an hour and then drop the camera down there and see schools of bass that wouldn't bite. All it does is make me feel like I don't know how to catch a fish. They do come in handy to check stuff out and see exactly whats there, but they will humble you sometimes.
