    Anchoring

I'm having trouble keeping the boat in position for the kids while doing some crappie fishing.

Is 2 anchors best? one in front and another in back?
How much rope should be let out?

    Re: Anchoring (Phil B)

I would say yes to the 2 anchors at the bow and stern. I think what I was told in the Boater safety course for anchor line lengths was a 7-1 ratio, but I think that is for Tidal water. I don't know how the traffic is on the water you fish (mine around here is mostly NO WAKE) but I think you should be fine with a 3-1 meaning for every foot of depth you have out 3 feet of anchor line if you are in non-tidal water with a low amount of boat traffic. I hope this helps, and if I am wrong, someone please let me know.

Mike I've always hear the 3 to 1 ratio myself and it works.

That's what I was thinking for Non-Tidal, I remember hearing 7-1 for Tidal though...Maybe I am wrong..It does heppen, Ask DeBassin
