Read an article in FLW Outdoors about JT Kenney who flips Sweet Beavers with straight shank hooks. Wouldn't that give the bait a bow or would it stay on the hook straighter?

I think they use some kind of bait holder. I wish one of the flipping pro's would explain. I have heard of some kind of snell knot that they use on the straight hooks. I wish some one in the know would post a photo.![]()
Using a hitch hiker will allow a strait shank hook...And hold the bait great.![]()

The pro's that use straight shank hooks say the reason for it is that anything that hold's the bait on the hook better makes it harder to get the hook point through the bait. The straight shank hook let's the bait slide down the hook and the point go through the bait better.
I was flipping yesterday with a straight shank and didn't like it as well as the offset. Every technique has an application so I would not rule it out.
