I have some 14lb Berkly Braid, is that fine or should I get some stronger line. I've seen most people have stronger line on baitcasters.![]()

but wont i have less control?

I personally don't like braid. Asking this question is like asking what truck you should buy, you are going to get a ton of answers and reasons why. You said that you have 14# braid on the reel now, what are you trying to do with it.
Flipping and Pitching, Crankin, Spinnerbaits, Topwater
Different techniques may require (maybe not the right word) a different type of line. Also what length and action is the rod?
Mike
you kinda have to have braided it keeps you from backlashing badly with mono filament i've tried it it backlashes almos every castand it can piss you off and mess up your fishing

I have found the total opposite. I have 10# on P-Line F-Clear on a Shimano Scopion and 12# P-Line F-Clear on a Curado. I have tried braid on both and don't like it on either. To me that's why there are so many tyoes of line, everyone likes something different.

I have an All Star 6'6" Medium and plan to be useing spinnerbaits on it. Would I be able to use buzzbaits on it aswell? Thanks
I don't see why not, as long as you are comfortable with the rod. I ise the same rod for Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, lipless cranks, cranks, light jigs (3/8oz & smaller) tubes (same weights as jigs) Hula grubs, and jerkbaits.
Thanks man, you've so much help.
No problem shoot me an email if you have anymore questions.

As far as line goes, it really depends on your preference. I have used many types of lines and find that for my style of fishing, braided works best for me. I have buddies that throw mono and would not think of changing to braided. I use Stren braided, anywhere from 14lbs 20lbs on my rods. I use 6.5 to 7 foot rods and have no trouble with the line. As for backlash, you can compensate for this by adjusting your brake on the baitcater. It really comes down to individual preference, like the others have said, you just have to find what works best for you. As for me I like braided, I have tried spider wire, trilene, however Stren is what works best for me. One last note, I have one rig set up with mone (PLINE) and it works just fine. I must recommend PLINE if you are using mono. Hope this helps.
I use 12 pound P-Line CXX X-TRA STRONG on all of my baitcasting reels. The only time I use lighter line is when I'm cranking and I'm still using 10 pound P-Line CXX X-TRA STRONG. I don't really feel the need to use any heavier line than 12 lb. test except if you're fishing in thick vegetation which I have never done.I will never ever use any other line but P-Line on any of my reels.
