I finally listened and picked up some oil yesterday when I was at the lake, guess I'm a little slow. Problem is Evinrude dealers are hard to find around here, the lake is 2 hours and everyone here is Mercury/Yamaha. I did find a small repair shop nearby but don't think I'll ever take anything there, just didn't get a good feeling about them.
I got the 50, now can I mix it with the Mercury DFI oil I have been using or do I need to drain the tank.

The oils should mix with no problem.

Only thing that concerns me is the Mercury DFI oil does not meet the TCW3 rating. Only oils that meet TCW3 rating are tested to be compatible when mixed.

The last time I looked at a gallon of Merc Optimax DFI oil it said not for use in carbureted or EFI 2-strokes and not to be mixed with gasoline for 2-strokes.


Have they changed it recently?

Sounds like better get that oil out of there. I have not run any of the DFI oil yet, I bought it by mistake and have had it sitting on the shelf until Saturday. I have been using the Mercury Premium Plus but my fishing partner filled the tank with the DFi oil when we got back from the lake. He got it off the shelf and filled the tank thinking that was the oil I had been using. Anyone want a free bottle of Mercury DFI
