Due to the fish kill and tough conditions on the Chowan and Meherrin rivers, the 3 Rivers open tournament scheduled for this Saturday 9/10/2011, has been moved to the Nottoway River RTE 258 ramp. Start time scheduled for 6:30, weigh in at 3:30.
This tournament is open to anyone, hope to see ya' there.

I stopped by the ramp Monday morning trying to decide if I should fish there or make the trip down to Roanoke Rapids. The water looked like it was moving at a really good clip and while I was sitting there with my headlights on the dock a good-sized tree trunk floated by.
Needless to say, I headed on down 58.
You guys be careful out there!

From what I can gather the Nottoway is not doing real hot either, it is linked to the Chowan, hope you guys don't bring in fish and end up killing them by releasing them there, not trying to be an (edit) but conservation should come before a tournament does in my book!!!

I 2ND this we may be killing even more fish !!!
The fishing on the Nottoway has been tuff but everything we have seen is that the fish kill on the Nottoway/Blackwater is very minimal compared to the Chowan and Meherrin river.....the water flow which is extremely fast is what is making it so tuff.....we shall see on Saturday. Good luck to all!

Nottoway looked worse than the Chowan yesterday. Fished the Wed eve tournament and there were dead Carp everywhere on the Nottoway. No one got a bite on the Nottoway or Chowan rivers. It's looking bad guys. Smells bad too.
Simms Gut smelled like a convoy of Pig Trucks took a detour off 58 and parked in the Gut. Weird bubbles on top of water. Cesspool. fish need time and oxygen. I'm a proud member of 3Riversopens, and it didnt look good.
