High Performance Parts f/ 1999 Johnson

I'm looking for some bolt on high performance parts or accessories for a 1999, 225 Johnson with a Lightning 2 lower unit. Would it make that much of a difference if I would install carbon reeds and a ported exhaust. Also what else could be done to this engine.

There is a lot that could be done but each horse power you gain you lose reliability.

We don't do hop ups here but check on Scream and Fly.com

Re: High Performance Parts f/ 1999 Johnson (ELGIN)

Not wanting to mess up a great running engine, but I was wondering if it would run smoother with less restrictions to the in/out air. Would the rpm's change, or would the rpm's come up quicker etc. Also I was told that on the six pack carb. engines it was better not to fool with them due to calibration issues. Just trying to clear up some questions that I had. Thanks

The best thing is to enjoy it the way it is.

Back in the 80's I had a saying, "I can get you five miles an hour for five hundred bucks, but every mile an hour after that will cost you five hundred bucks each, and when it blows up its still yours".

I see the boy once in a while on Scream and Fly, but those dudes are hard core and he's really out of his league, but probably doesn't even realize it.

CAN I ASK A QUESTION>... Its seems that the YAmmys and Mercs... are doing some cool mods to their motors.. but why is it i dont see alot of people trying to mod. these Di injected motors. I here great things frmo guys racing in Europe in Austrailia on cool options on etechs... and DI but no one here wants to mess with them. Always stock stcok stock.. BUt i look at Hydra tech and watch these motors plow 370HP on these things and only spend 5 thousand or so... and have a motor thatt can dust any stock Erudes... I love Evinrudes... but its seems that THe Rudes are left short when it comes to letting them breath heavier..... just looking for some input... one making these awesome blocks put the dark side in the dust.
