Help w/ETEC HO & Norris Craft

I have a friend that is a big tournament fisherman on Clarks Hill and he is repowering his 20'5" Norris Craft with a ETEC HO. The other fishermen that he has talked to with the new HO are having a hard time propping them right (on Bullets) Currently they have found some success with Trophy 27P although holeshot is slow and they experience blow out. Any help would be appreciated.

BTW he is currently running a 225 HO (carbed model).

    Thanks,
    Don<><

Those are light boats and I would expect them to need a 30 Raker or possibly one of the Hydromotive props. I have not heard of anyone running the Hydromotive props on the E-TEC yet. I was going to try and get one for mine and have not gotten around to it.

If they try the Hydromotive, I would suggest trying to get a 30, 31 and 32.

Let us know how it goes.

    GE,

If you have some setup help, we would all like to see as well. This is the way we all learn from this great source of information.

Some of the light boat guys are having good success w/ the Bravo props in the higher pitches. I am surprised that a 27 Trophy would have poor holes shot though. Blow out is just normal w/ a Trophy - no way around it. ZC

I just talked to Don on the phone. I am going to help his friend with his NorrisCraft.
I just told him that the boats are not really a lightweight like an Allison, and about 200 lbs heavier than a Bullet. These 20 footers weigh about 1400 lbs. I have 5 buddy's who have them and I know the setups on them well. IMO it's going to take at least a 30 pitch prop...I just happen to have 3 of them here. Not that I was not sharing info, just didn't want to post my phone number on a public forum. If Don's buddy wants my help, he or i one will update you on what was done.

The E-TEC accelerates so quickly that it takes a little blowout and makes it a lot.

Thanks GE. I am interested in how the E-TEC performs on all types of boats. The Norris Craft is a different boat than what I have and look forward to hearing how it goes.

    Hello, Kenneth

I have a 225 ho etec here in brazil installed on a Stratos.
I am interested also in Hydromotive propellers to test on it.
Do you have any idea which hydromotive prop should be better,
the t4 or quad 4 models? Sorry, is a 285 dc stratos.

You have a 225HO on a 285 ? Now that would be fun!!

I have no idea what to run on that combo. I would probably look for a 32 in the Quad 4 model to start with.

5600 is not a bad RPM to run the E-Tec, you will see more oil savings at that RPM.
