    Re: Good news! (metalman76)

metalman, I will be there with you. I did the early entry last August and got in the first 50. I will get to ride three days. Smith Mountain is one of my favorite lakes to fish and is less than a hour from my house. There are plenty of places to stay near the lake. If you stay in the Martinsville or Ridgeway area, we could ride back and forth together if you like. My wife will be going with me on Wednesday aftrenoon but I will be going by myself on thursday, friday and saturday.

    Re: Good news! (Bassman13)

    Here's a couple of suggestions:

    - Wear some comfortable shoes. You'll be standing or sitting in the back of the boat all day so plan your wardrobe accordingly. Just like you would when you fish, be prepared for rain, heat, cold..etc.

    - Bring your own lifevest. The pros are required to have one for you if you don't, but there's no guarentee on size or condition.

    - Bring some drinks, small snacks, maybe a sandwich or two.

    - Have a bag, old tackle bag, etc. to keep all your stuff in and try and pack light. They will have a compartment for you to stick your stuff in, but there might not be much room in there. Some of those guys carry allot of stuff!

    - Bring sunblock! nuff said.

    - Keep your stuff together, out of the way, and be ready to go at all times. When they decide to move, it happens quick!

    - Make sure and take a camera with allot of room on the disk...you'll want to take about a thousand pics!

    - Make yourself up a list of questions that you really want to ask, fold it up and stick it in your pocket. During the day you'll have conversations about all sorts of things so you'll want to remember the questions you most wanted to ask.

    - Carry anything you might want autographed and a good sharpie. You'll be backstage and constantly around all the pros and you'll have allot of chances for autographs and pictures. Get another marshal to take pics of you with the pros, then do the same for him...makes for better pics that way!

    - Most of all, just relax and be yourself. You'll be very surprised how much those guys will want to talk to you and how friendly they are. The night of the pairings when you're all in one room together it can be a little overwhelming. Just listen up, and when they call you and your pro's name just get with him and he'll let you know where you need to meet him and when. They usually give you thier cell number too, just in case.

-Don't be late for blastoff They won't wait for ya

I don't know how much info they sent you guys. I know last year BASS didn't give you much except a time and a place to be, and it was a bit nerve-racking walking in there not really sure what was going on. If you have any questions about it, just shoot me an IM and I'll let you know how it went for me. Congrats guys..you're going to love it!

    Re: Good news! (metalman76)

I got selected last year and again this year. It's the best deal in town. Rode around with Morizo Shimzu, Brent Broderick, and Todd Faircloth. I can't wait for this year.

Watching the pros and getting to ask questions was invaluable. I liked it so much, we're in the process of moving to SML.
