winter fishing.

I keep seeing people post pictures of fish that they caught the same day I was fishing and didnt catch anything. I dont know if Im fishing the wrong area or what but I would love some advice on what to use and where to fish. I live in southern Virginia Beach and I dont like to travel too far to fish. I usually fish in the creeks off the North Landing river (west neck creek) or Ill go in Back Bay if the wind is calm. I just dont catch anything. I have tried spinnerbaits and plastic worms and creatures. Am I not fishing in deep enough water for this time of year. I just have a bare bones boat with no electronics on it so if I had to guess I would say I was fishing in 6 feet of water max...I mean other than the middle of the channel. If anyone could help me out so I could catch some fish I would really appreciate it.

I would try cranking the wood in West Neck Creek....Always had plenty of success there...Can you get into Hells Pt Creek off Back Bay? If so, I would definately give that a try.

For winter time bassin the key is sloooooow waaaaay down usually jigs and shad baits (suspending). Unless you find them bunched up in a tight ball, you can fish all day and maybe get a couple of bites.
