99 Johnson 225ho-quickstart stuck on

Hello,
I have a 99 225 johnson HO and the last time out i noticed that the idle was very high and it was no longer kicking out of the quickstart rpm. I took the airbox off and verified that all the carbs throttle plates were closed. Checked the throttle linkage and it was set correct and the timer base is all of the way retracted. Checked the thermostats and they are functioning correct. I am supposed to head out camping for the 4th and really would appreciate some advice. Thanks in advance,

The quick way to test the system is to disconnect the white-black wire from the port cylinderhead temp switch and ground the engine harness side. That turns off the QuickStart.

If nothing happens, then perhaps the problem is an open circuit or something wrong inside the pack. Use a timing light to verify if the pack is changing the timing as it should. The specs are in the service manual.

I remembered the part about the doing something with that white/black wire, but couldn't remember what to do with it. I will give that a shot. One last question and i know you are going to hate to answer it, but please let me know. IF that does turn off the Quickstart, would it be ok to leave that wire grounded for a weekend and just not have the quickstart working. My mechanic is out until the 13th and just need to get it through the weekend and then i can get a new pack or temp switch or whatever needs to be replacecd. Thanks again,
