I have a 2004 50hp ETEC that has been sounding the no oil alarm.
I just purchased this spring and after a couple of weeks in storage the on board oil tank cracked. Evinrude warrantied the tank, sent a new one which I installed. started up the boat and the no oil alarm sounds, which I assumed was due to priming, I restart multilple times on muffs and run for several minutes without an alarm. put it in the lake, the alarm sounds, restart and no alarm for several (3-5) hours of use. a week later alarm sounds again, I take the boat to the dealer, he checks it on the computer, everything checks good they say there is no problem but run it through the prime mode and tell me I'm good. Put it back in the water and the alarm sounds, halfway to the dock it stalls and I find a loose connection on the gas tank. Fix that and run 3-5+ more hours with no problems, thought the gas connection fixed it, the end of the day the alarm starts sounding again. Was told someone else had their alarm go off and it was a plugged fuel filter so I changed that and inspected all the fuel system and it all looks good but I'm still getting an erratic alarm.
Any ideas? Can the fuel system affect the oil alarm? And the oil tank is full!
