    250HO Inquiry

    Guys,
I am running a 250HO which had the misfortune of blowing my 2008 power-head. BRP quickly got me a new fully dressed 2010 power-head. I have lost rpms and top-end. The loss is about 500rpms and almost 6mph. Wondering if anyone else who may have had their power-head replaced has had similar performance loss???

    Elgin,
2008 250HO which now has a 2010 fully dressed powerhead. I will have to get back to you on the serial number since the boat is at dealer right now.

break in will probably hold it back alittle i would think.... even though it doesnt say break in , im sure the motor double oils while its in its first 10 or 5 hrs... but other than that.. it might be a weak motor lol im not sure... sometimes you get a good en...

It is beyond break in time. Plus, BRP has confirmed that there is not any restriction of power or rpm's during the break-in. The dealer tech team have even spent time water testing the motor. They found the same performance change from the original. The suggestion from BRP was to change props which is total BS. If the entire set-up is the same except the power-head, the prop is not the solution.

Prior to blowing up, this motor had awesome performance. This new power-head is totally different in hole shot, mid-range accelaration and top-end. All the computer read outs say everything is fine. The dealer is working his fanny off to get me a resolution, but BRP has no answers to this point. This is why I am asking if any other folks have seen similar issues, but found that magic solution.
    Thanks

Your dealer and the factory will be working together to resolve the slow hole shot, have your dealer contact the factory if he has not already.

    Elgin,
I wish it was only slow hole shot. It is loss of top end, loss of rpms and mid range accelaration. I will agree that my dealer will work hard to resolve. As for BRP, I am dissapointed with the evasive nature of their answers up to this point. They have issues with these blocks and are not stating what they are or how their being resolved.

i think they have started detunning all new 250 ho's . I have a new 250 that has the exact same problems you listed. hole, midrange sluggesh, top end down from other boats of same type. It seems that this happend toward the end of summer of 08. HO built before that run great, one s after are crap. They want to blame hull or prop for a motor with no power. Just my opinion, no proof.

    Re: 250HO Inquiry (munchie)

My 09 250 ho ran 77.8 at 5500 rpm Sunday in a boat with 30 gallons of gas on board. Trim left to go get on the gauge and some rpms to be honest. I also could turn a 26 fury as well. Holeshot less than 2 seconds with me and a 25 fury. Less than 4 seconds with me, wife, 2 kids and 20-30 gallons on board. Mine is far from crap. Runs like a scalded ape.
