    Trim Problems

Hey guys, I have a 2001 Johnson 225hp and the trim motor has quite working.. I do have 12 volts going to the trim motor, but do not have anything happening..Same thing happened on my Yamaha 40 and i replaced the motor and everything worked fine after replacing. My problem is that when i loaded my boat up on the trailer, I didn't have very much clearance and opened the relief screw to pick the motor up and all it did was go down the rest of the way and after trying for a good hour to pick it up(by hand) could never get it to go up, so I just dropped the foot off of the motor and came home with it like that. Yesterday I tried to get the motor up again with a strap and come-a-long tied to a tree and still no luck, its like it has a latch that has lock the motor in the down position...and can't seem to get it to unlock...any help would be appreciated...
