2004 D-I 175Hp -Fuel Problem?

This has happened three times in the last 2 trips. When I first started the motor today it started up fine and idled for about 5-10 minutes. then leaving the dock it started to sputter and barely run. Had to go pump the primer bulb about 15-20 times to get it firm. Ran fine must of the day until i shut it off , it sat for about 30 minutes and then did the same thing. checked the bulb and it was real easy to squeeze, so i pumped it another 15-20 times and th emotor ran fine. Is this a fuel pump starting to go out or is there something else to look at?

Most likely an air leak in the fuel system, carb bowls, vapor separator tank, boats fuel system, if you prime the bulb and the motor runs fine until you shut it off, these are the things I would look for first.

Thanks for the reply. the thing is, i just switched motors, my other evinrude ran fine on this boat. This one has only been on the boat a couple of weeks and i am having this problem. I will check the fuel line, but this is the ficht so it wouldn't have any carb bowls. How do i check the vapor seperator tank?

Change out your primer bulb. I've had a similar problem. I think the sun had alot to do with mine. Then check connections, fuel line to engine. It may not be snug.

it is the ficht 175 HP.

a ficht 250 came of the boat.
