    trim pump leaked out oil

    Hi new to this forum
I have a 1994 evinrude 88 spl i went to use my trim tonight and it barley went up then i seen a oil slick from the boat i immediately took it out of the water and noticed the trim cylinder leaking from the top, is there a way to rebuild these and is it possible for a average person to do? And does anyone know where i can order the parts.
    Thank You,
    Tom

It is an 89 and yes you can fix it your self. You'll need a spanner wrench and part number 390007 approx $18.10. Secure the motor on the trailer bracket, remove the pin for the tilt rod, run the tilt down and remove the cap from the trim ram. remove the complete tilt ram and replace the o ring a wiper. Re-fill with tilt trim fluid and re-install the assembly. Check for gouges and dings on the trim ram.

You can use the manual release screw found on the side of the mounting bracket. Loosen it about 3 turns and then grab the cavitation plate and lift the motor up. Tighten the screw once the motor is on the trailering bracket.

More PB blaster, BFH and punch then a more bigger BFH! Make sure the C clips are off the pin ends.
