    Help, help, help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am wrighting on behalf of my brother. He, this year purchased an
Evenrude 225 HO. A dealer model. After about three weeeks the lower unit went out. Evinrude came through and fixed it. Last week durring the everstart on Ky lake, the lower unit feel off on the second day of competition. Evinrude rep at the tourny said it was because one blade hade broken off the prop and he would send in the work order and it would be taken care of. The same thing happend to another angler in the same tourny. They covered the secound guy but not my brother. They said his came off because someone had try to still his lower unit but must not have had both sockets to get it off. If this is not the biggest crook of *^$) I have ever heard I don't know what to say. Any of you evinrude dealers ever heard of anything like this before? I urge all of you to email Evinrude and let them know what you think. This could be you next! Any info on steps to take to make this right would be appreciated. Thank God I run yamaha

Rockangler...Gary, I think, first things first, Evinrude replaced the first gearcase FREE NO CHARGE...Right?

    What is a Dealer model?
    Do you mean..Dealer Demo?

Evinrude did not install the gearcase, a DEALER did.

We, nor Evinrude know were your brother lives, Is it a gated community with patrol officers??????

How or why would you blame Evinrude for a gearcase that fell off ???????

If Evinrude did not cover the replacement AGAIN....there was a reason, Maybe one you don't know as this is your brothers boat.

By the Way, We Are REAL Sorry you feel this way towards a company that Gave Your Brother a new Gearcase that was installed by a dealer.

First, It is irrelavent where my brother lives, but it is highly unlikley that someone come into his yard in a busy neighorhood and attempemted to steal his lowerunit And yes, excuss me, it was a dealer ( an evinrude certified dealer) who replaced the lowerunit. I am not blaming evenrude for the lower unit falling off , I am blaming them for not standing behind the product and preformance of ( a certified machinic) Futhermore,
Evinrude did not GIVE him the first replacment. He paid thousands of $ to buy a product with a warrenty. Evinrude only back their warrenty as well they should have. I can not buy the fact that someone tried to steal the unit. Was it machanic error? I don't know! He had just finished 2 1/2 days of hard fishing with no problem. Did someone try to still his unit from the motel parking lot. I still say unlikley.I feel that if someone where to try to still a lowerunit they surley would have the knowledge to do so before trying. Who knows, lots of dumb crooks. I will say this, I feel my brother is a talented fisherman who is just getting back after a few years layoff. He went to the allamerican before he quit, and is an almost lock to return to regieional this year in his first year back. He had a better than average chance of making top 10 in the everstart before his motor went down. Evinrude probably cost themselfs more than it would have taken to fix the motor. Appernently they don't worry about one little guy from Ky. My 2 cents worth. Gary

Hey guys...Have you thought that possibly someone was was out to sabatoge your brothers tornament???? I ran into a guy that had his trolling motor prop beaten off just because he was catching fish during a two or three day tourney....It sure is a way to keep you off of fish!!! It might not have been the mechanic that screwed up maybe a low life CHEATING competitor it's happened before and I am sure soem idiot out there will do it again if they feel threatened by a good fishermen!!!! Just my two cents worth!!!

Sorry you feel this way about an unknown failure...

Re: Help, help, help!!!!!!!!!!!! (Won Hunglo)

If one of the wheels were to fall off your car and the lug threads were not stripped, would you expect the manufacturer(Ford, Chevy etc.) to repair/replace it? If you had recently had the tires rotated at a factory dealership and the same thing happened, would you expect the manufacturer to repair/replace it? I don't think so. You would look to the dealership for compensation - not the manufacturer. From what we've been told, the L/U came off because someone left the bolts loose or someone loosened them. It may have been vandalism or dealer quality control, but it was not a factory defect of any kind. I don't see why you would blame Evinrude. MY .02 ZC

evinrude says without a shadow of a doubt that it was not the mechanics fault said he was a great mechanic the lower unit didnt just come undone it broke away from midsection after a blade on the prop broke off at 75 mph their whole theory is on someone trying to steal it the lower unit was put on 2 months ago after the 1st l/u went out (3rd time on water ) you also have to be certified with evinrude to do the warranty work for 17000 dollars should be a little more dependable big difference in warranty work and rotating tires exact same thing happened to another fisherman same day prop blade broke off so did lower unit he was stratos pro his l/u is going to be covered my motor is most likely totaled
