A few updates to do & questions

I have a Solix G3 12"&15", a 23 Minnkota I-Pilot link bluetooth, 2-23 Cannon optimums, and am picking up Friday a Megalive 2 that I have been waiting for over two months from the factory. As that just got in last week, I am assuming it will have the latest software.
My Solix's were updated Dec 23 with 4.190 and when at the dealer to get a networking thing fixed then, they updated my I-Pilot off their phone app. That was in Dec 23 also.
So I have been waiting for awhile to do any further updates as everything was working, and I knew I wanted to add the new Megalive 2, so I just held off till I could get one, didn't think it would take this long though, but the wife is picking it up and bringing it home Friday.
I think I have the order of updates figured out, according to Humminbird notes I can go from the 4.190 that I have to 5.060, then from 5.060 to 5.250. As to my I-Pilot I have no idea what it is, but was updated in Dec 23, my Optimums purchased in early 23 have never been updated.
Do you have to update the touch screen remote for the IPilot also?
I may put the latest hub in also as now I will probably have all 5 ports full.
I have downloaded the I Pilot link app, and the one boat network app.
Do you still have to restore defaults? I seem to remember something about not any more, but I'm not sure when that started.
I have updated in the past from a downloaded disk, also had to unzip files, do you still do that?
Do I do the locators first, then the rest? or is there some special order.

I would be skeptical that anything is running current software out of the box. I always check. If you use Autochart you may want to wait on the updates. The other semi common and intermittent bug is GPS fix lost. I might suggest only doing one of the Solix initially if that works for you. I am definitely in favor of downloading the updates to PC and transferring to a SD card. The software package should have the applicable updates for your peripherals included if you select the correct download.

I just made the switch from the Ipilot with touchscreen to the Ipilot Advanced GPS and have been VERY happy with that so far. Northland in Eagle River had stock

I have been struggling with my new Apex and the 5.060-5.250 OBN software for a month and a half now. My old Solix G1 worked fine, but now I sold it...

Another thing, I currently have the standard hub with one port open, that will be filled though with this new Mega live 2. Will it be an advantage to upgrade to the new hub also at this time. I would need to know by friday as my wife heads for home then from where she is picking up the Mega Live 2 The pricing I get where she is picking up the Mega live 2 make it something I would want her to pick up the new hub at the same time as the Megalive2.

I would def recommend getting the new hub, especially if you are to fill the old one. I think I read somewhere that the old hub/switch won't work well if all the ports are full. Also the new hub has upgraded speeds that will help when everything needs to talk to one another.

Not sure I can only do one with them being on 4.190 now, also I think the new Megalive 2 will need a software above my 4.190. Looks like I am somewhat forced to upgrade everything because of the new Mega live?

I am pretty confident that Mega Live 2 will only work on version 5 and above for the Solix G3

Yes for ML2 to work, but you could delay the update and networking on the second unit until you are sure that the new stuff works. Just a thought from someone who is majorly frustrated with the new stuff.

Wife just texted me they had the new hub in stock and is bringing one home friday with the new Mega live2. Guess I'm just going to go for it with the updates. There is an awful lot of them when you figure the locators, I-Pilot link BLU, touchscreen remote, and downriggers. Should be interesting as I've only done locators before, but that always went smooth. Should have ordered the Mega 2 when it first came out as I really didn't think it would take two months to get. No big deal I guess as I never had one before so what's a couple more months.
